Coordinator of the NGO “e-Ecology” visit to Denmark

10.06.2015

The visit of the representative of NGO “E-ecology” , together with his colleagues from the IT industry, to the Kingdom of Denmark has started on May 20, 2015. While visiting the country the Coordinator for the development of IT tools and support innovative services of Ukrainian environmental NGO “e-Ecology” Yury Zaitsev could get acquainted with the state of the environment and partly learn from the experience of environmental protection in Denmark.

Among the first cities of Denmark, that were on the route – Silkeborg.

Silkeborg is a city that is located in the center of Denmark, on the Jutland peninsula. It is an administrative center of Silkeborg commune. Population – 55,080 inhabitants. The development of Silkeborg as a modern city begins with the establishment of a paper mill by Michael Drewsen on the River Gooden in 1844. Silkeborgg long lake (Silkeborg Langs) divides the city into northern and southern parts, and from the eastern part of the lake flows Gooden river.

As we can see in the photos, cleanness reigns everywhere – on the streets, in parks, in water … everywhere! This once again confirms the thesis that “cleanness is not where it is clean, but where do not litter” and therefore – the primary task facing the government and civil society, including NGO “e-Ecology” to contribute to the changes in the minds of people, and the ways businessmen and ordinary citizens approach the environment. Basic principles of careful attitude to the nature should be laid from the first years of life for each newborn child and start doing it we should right now.

Then next city on the route was Copenhagen.

Copenhagen is the capital and most populated city of Denmark, with an urban population of 1,263,698 (as of 1 January 2015) and a metropolitan population of 1,992,114. It is situated on the eastern coast of Zealand. The city stretches across parts of the island of Amager and contains the enclave of Frederiksberg, a municipality in its own right.

Very interesting is the fact that part of the city is the self-proclaimed “Free City Christiania” which is in partial self-government. We believe very exceptional and particularly relevant expertise to Ukraine in the present circumstances! But now is not about that …

Despite the fact that Copenhagen is the largest city of Denmark, again we see a picture of almost perfect cleanness, both in the suburbs and in the central part. It is not surprising, because the Danes a lot of attention pay to environmental issues. In particular, one can see a large number of electric cars and a wide network of charging stations.

But not only for electric cars is famouse Copenhagen. Bicycles! That’s really impressive …

Summing up the trip, we have to admitt that there are a lot of things for us to learn from our foreign colleagues. Ukraine needs to raise the environmental protection to a new level and to build a sustainable system of governmental environmental protection and we should do it immediately!!!
